Bang Bang
"Bang Bang - a Dublin Character".
My latest painting is about a well known Dublin character called Bang Bang so called because he had a large key which he "shot" anybody nearby. Sometimes he would get onto a bus and shoot all on board- people obligingly fell back dead.
In this scene it's almost a total "massacree" with the conductor and other bodies strewn around. The man with the newspaper is keeping the eye nearest Bang Bang closed but still catching up with the news.
Little Emily was worried about this man but after her Mammy reassured her he was "harmless" she is now looking forward to the next bus ride and maybe see BB and playing dead!
His exploits were included in the Abbey Theatre performance of a play about the history of Dublin entitled "From the Vikings to Bang Bang".
